v34 preview: what the next OpenFront release may change

A player-focused preview of the v34 changes worth preparing for, with the final release status kept separate from the article URL.

v34 Not released yet Published Aug 21, 2026 Reviewed by OpenFront Intel editors #changelog#features#preview

This is the player-facing v34 article. It collects changes that are far enough along to explain, while the status above remains the authority for whether the release is live. Final behavior can still change before publication.

Water Nukes: transport routes should recover

After a Water Nuke changes the coastline, transport ships are being prepared to route through the new water instead of trusting stale minimap data. That should remove the misleading detours that make a valid route look blocked or much longer.

Until v34 is released, keep using the warning in the Water Nukes guide. Check the actual route before committing a transport to a long crossing.

Doomsday teams: corruption becomes a fight for territory

The team version of Doomsday is moving toward a higher, staged territory requirement. A team that falls behind will need to take land deliberately rather than waiting for the clock to solve the problem.

The practical preparation is unchanged: keep a connected expansion route, protect cheap forward positions, and recover before the warning becomes territory loss. The Doomsday Clock guide remains the detailed rules reference.

Detailed View: scan public lobbies before joining

The upcoming lobby view is intended to expose the public queue in a more useful way. Players should be able to compare mode, team setup, and player count before opening a room.

That makes the join decision faster, but it does not turn every room into a featured event. Read the room settings before committing to a match.

Clan treasury: treat deposits as permanent

Clan members are preparing to deposit normal or premium currency into a shared treasury. The important player rule is the irreversible part: a deposit is permanent, so premium currency deserves the same caution as any other non-refundable purchase.

Use the economy reference to keep treasury spending separate from ordinary in-match production choices.

Spectating: join the match without taking a slot

The next release may let a player enter an active match as a spectator without occupying a player slot. That would make it easier to learn a map, follow a friend, or inspect a late-game decision without changing the lobby balance.

Treat the final entry point and permissions as provisional until the release status changes. It is a viewing path, not an extra combat action.

How to read this preview

Prepare for the player-facing consequences, not for an exact implementation promise. When v34 is officially released, this same /changelog/v34/ article will keep its URL and its status will change to Released after the final release facts are checked.
